Mechanism

Why two pathways matter

For members who plateau on semaglutide, or who need an alternative option toward a metabolic target, tirzepatide is often the next step.

Safety

Considerations

As with semaglutide, tirzepatide is contraindicated in patients with a personal or family history of medullary thyroid carcinoma or MEN 2, and in patients with a history of pancreatitis. It is not for use during pregnancy. Common side effects — nausea, GI upset, fatigue — are usually mild and resolve as your body adjusts.

Tirzepatide is a prescription medication. Results in clinical trials required combined therapy with diet and physical activity. Individual results vary. Discuss risks and benefits with your Aryo clinician.
