Semaglutide mimics the naturally-occurring hormone GLP-1. It signals the pancreas to release insulin when blood glucose rises, suppresses glucagon, and slows gastric emptying — meaning meals feel satisfying for longer and cravings quiet down.
Most Aryo members reach a therapeutic dose over 12–16 weeks. Your clinician holds or steps down the titration based on tolerability, labs, and weekly check-ins.
Who shouldn't take it
Semaglutide is not appropriate for patients with a personal or family history of medullary thyroid carcinoma or Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia syndrome type 2 (MEN 2), a history of pancreatitis, or during pregnancy. Your Aryo physician screens for these conditions during intake.
Semaglutide is a prescription medication. Side effects may include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, constipation, and injection-site reactions. Talk with your clinician about all risks before starting therapy.
